1. Open Godot
Run:
-
Godot_v4.6.3-stable_win64.exe
You’ll see the Project Manager window.
🆕 2. Create a new project
Click:
👉 “New Project”
Then fill in:
Click:
👉 Create & Edit
🎬 3. First scene (this is important)
Godot is scene-based, so everything starts with a scene.
When editor opens:
Click:
👉 “2D Scene” (or “3D Scene” if you want 3D later)
This creates your first root node.
You’ll see something like:
-
Node2D (2D)
or
-
Node3D (3D)
💾 4. Save your scene
Press:
👉 Ctrl + S
Save it as:
Main.tscn
Inside your project folder.
▶️ 5. Set main scene (VERY important)
Go to:
Project → Project Settings → Application → Run
Find:
Set it to:
Main.tscn
🧪 6. Run your project
Press:
👉 F5
or click ▶️ “Play”
Godot will ask:
-
“Select a main scene?” → choose
Main.tscn
Now your project runs (even if it’s empty).
🎮 7. Add something simple (test)
Let’s add a sprite:
Click:
-
“+” to add node
-
Choose:
Sprite2D
Then:
-
In Inspector → “Texture”
-
Load any image (you can drag one in)
🧠 What you just learned (important concept)
In Godot:
-
Everything is a Node
-
Nodes form a Scene
-
Scenes are your game building blocks
👍 Next step (if you want)
I can help you build your first real mini game:
